Spain 2026: 123 harbours compared – where the season decides the price like nowhere else

123 Spanish harbours compared, from the Costa Brava to the Strait of Gibraltar and out to the Balearic Islands. 100 of them officially documented with rate lists or fee schedules: prices range from EUR 6.85 to EUR 412.91 per night for a 12.50 m boat – at some marinas, the official rate swings by more than sixfold between low and high season.

After Italy, Spain is the country with the most harbours recorded in the MarinaCheck dataset: 123, from the Catalan Costa Brava across the Balearic Islands and the Levante to the Andalusian coast and Gibraltar. For 100 of them an official rate list, concession condition or fee schedule is on file – for the remaining 23 the app shows a researched estimate, because clubs náuticos or smaller marinas often only quote a price on request.

What these official tariffs reveal is quite different from the countries compared so far: in Spain, price often does not just depend on location, but very strongly on the time of year. Above all in the Balearic Islands, port authorities set official maximum rates per square metre per day – with a high-season rate that in some places is more than six times the low-season one.

* Current official rates (current rate) or fees from the respective port authority, concession company or municipality for a boat of about 12.50 × 4.20 m length/beam (for tariffs calculated per square metre: reference area 52.5 m²), VAT included where not already stated in the original document (exception: Port de Sóller, a public Ports IB fee whose schedule states no VAT – amount taken over unchanged), as of 10/2026 – ranges cover low to high season, single values apply flat year-round; deliberately only examples that can be backed by an official rate list. Details for each harbour, including those without an official rate, are in the MarinaCheck app.

Three examples from Spain

Why so many Spanish tariffs are billed by square metre and season

Above all in the Balearic Islands and Catalonia, port authorities – led by the Autoridad Portuaria de Baleares (APB) – set official "tarifas máximas": a maximum price per square metre per day, multiplied by the boat's actual footprint (length × beam), usually with a markedly higher rate in high season. At Marina La Savina on Formentera, for instance, the official rate rises from EUR 1.00/m²/day in low season to EUR 6.50/m²/day from June to September – for our reference boat (52.5 m²), that is the difference between EUR 63.53 and EUR 412.91 per night, VAT included.

Why the prices differ so much

Unlike the countries compared so far, Spain does not run a single pricing system but several in parallel: officially set maximum rates per square metre and season (above all the Balearic Islands and Catalonia), public harbour fees at harbours run directly by the port authority (Ports IB in the Balearic Islands, APPA in Andalusia, see below), and simply free market pricing at marinas run privately or by clubs náuticos, for which no published rate list can be found – 23 of the 123 recorded harbours, flagged in the app as an estimate.

Public harbour fees: Ports IB in the Balearic Islands, APPA in Andalusia

Not every Spanish harbour has a rate list of its own. 13 harbours on Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza – such as Port de Sóller, Port d'Andratx or Ciutadella – are run directly by the port authority Ports de les Illes Balears (Ports IB). There the public fee Tasa G-5 applies: EUR 0.130491/m²/day from 1 October to 31 May and EUR 0.565456/m²/day from 1 June to 30 September. For our reference boat (52.5 m²) that comes to EUR 6.85 or EUR 29.69 per night, the same in all 13 harbours; the fee schedule states no VAT, and waste, water and mooring line are charged extra. Andalusia works in a similar way: harbours run directly by the Agencia Pública de Puertos de Andalucía (APPA) ("gestión directa") are subject to the Tasa T5 (2026: EUR 0.475754/m²/day), multiplied by a coefficient for each harbour. A night therefore costs EUR 30.22 in Caleta de Vélez and EUR 21.16 each in Adra and Roquetas de Mar (coefficient 0.70), 21% IVA included in each case; only the high-season rate is officially quantified – for October to May, APPA provides for a discount whose amount is not stated. Elsewhere – say, at concession-run marinas in the Balearic Islands or privately operated clubs – each operator sets its own tariff instead.

Compared with the other regions already broken down, the median berth price in Spain sits at around EUR 61 per night – pricier than Greece (EUR 28) and France (EUR 48), but cheaper than Italy (EUR 75) and Croatia (EUR 99). For the details on how that breaks down across the other regions, we have covered them in separate guides to the cheapest marinas in Greece, the cheapest marinas in Croatia and the cheapest marinas in France.

🔍 Honestly speaking

The example prices above come from official rate lists, concession terms or fee schedules of the respective port authority, municipality or operating company, for a boat of about 12.50 × 4.20 m length/beam – your own boat may come out cheaper or more expensive depending on length and beam. That is exactly what the MarinaCheck app works out for you individually, for each of the 550-plus marinas it holds, free of charge and without an account. Where VAT is not explicitly included in the original document, we have added 21% IVA – except for the public Ports IB harbour fees, whose fee schedule does not mention VAT and which we have taken over unchanged; some operators (e.g. Puerto Banús, Marina Palamós, Marina Cambrils) already state their prices VAT included.

For 23 of the 123 recorded Spanish harbours we have no official rate list on file – often because clubs náuticos or smaller marinas only quote a price on request. There the app shows a researched estimate rather than an officially documented price; some cases remain open follow-up cases for us – for instance Marina Real Juan Carlos I in Valencia, where a statutory tariff formula is known but the exact zone or berth-type coefficient that applies to that particular harbour is not officially published.

And a practical tip: the price charged on the day sometimes differs from the estimate shown – some harbours offer a discount for longer stays, outside peak weeks, or simply on request. A quick call or email directly to the marina is almost always worth it before you commit.

The estimated prices and facilities on this page are based on publicly available data and can change at any time. We therefore recommend checking with the relevant harbour office in every case, as prices and services can change at short notice due to external factors.
